Robert McIver served as an Eastman faculty member for eighteen years. He began in 1997 as a Visiting Professor of Voice, and joined as full-time faculty member in 1998, teaching until his retirement in 2015.
He received a Bachelor of Music degree from Oberlin College and Master and Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance degrees from West Virginia University. He was an Assistant Professor of Voice at Westminster Choir College (1972-1981), where he conducted the Westminster Festival Choir and directed the Summer Vocal Program; and Professor of Music at Kentucky Wesleyan College (1981-1998), directing the Kentucky Wesleyan Singers, the Evansville Philharmonic Chorus and Evansville Chamber Singers, and the Owensboro Civic Chorus.
Before coming to Eastman, Robert McIver had wide experience as a choral conductor at Choral Festivals and Workshops throughout the United States. For two summers he was Director of Choral Activities for the New England Music Camp. For 25 years he also served as a Minister of Music at churches in New Jersey and Kentucky. Robert McIver’s compositions and arrangements have been published by Warner Brothers, Choristers Guild, National Music, and Hinshaw.
